James Fair

James Earl Fair, 82, of Maryville, IL, formerly of Alton, IL, passed away at 2:33 p.m. Tues. Apr. 3, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.

He was born Oct. 21, 1935 in Alton to the late James Miller & Lydia Mary (Hatfield) Fair.

Jim was a U.S. Army veteran and had been a laborer and assembly line worker and had worked at the Glass Works.  He enjoyed bowling during his younger years and Wii bowling during his older years.  He spent time researching his family tree with his father and sister, reading, watching tv, playing games, especially Hand & Foot with his friends at Marian Heights Apts and spending holidays and other family time with his loved ones.

Survivors include: a brother and sister-in-law: Bill & Helen (Mitchell) Fair; sister and brother-in-law: Connie (Fair) Port Vick and Greg Vick; 5 nephews and 3 nieces: Mike Fair, Mark (Amy) Fair, Tim (Susan) Fair, Jennifer (Greg) McCalley, Jonathan (Amanda) Port, Christy (Chris) Fisher, Stacey Port (and boyfriend Shane Winkeler) and Evan (Angie) Port; 2 step-nephews: Josh Vick and Jason (Robin) Vick; 18 great-nephews and nieces: 5 great-great-nephews and nieces; and many special friends and neighbors at Marian Heights Apts in Alton.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece Janis (Thorp) Fair.

Services and burial are private.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or HSHS Hospice of Southern Illinois.
