James E. Angel, 89, passed away at 5:36 pm Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
He was born in Dow, IL on February 26, 1924 the son of the late James J. and Ida Mae (Pickett) Angel.
James married Waldrene Schulte, on June 17, 1945 and she survives.
James was an adjuster in the cupping department of Olin Corp for 45 years retiring in 1982. He was an active member for 67 years at Messiah Lutheran Church. He was especially a great husband and father and an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife, he will be greatly missed by three children and their spouses; Marla (John) Hultz of Godfrey, Patricia (Scott) Jones of Alton, Michael (Gina) Angel of Medora, nine grandchildren; Michael and Clayton Angel, Shannon Clagg, Ellen Stein, Kristina and Nikolas Knueven, Matthew, Mary and Damaris Jones and five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Jimmie Lee Angel, one brother Francis Angel, two sisters Dorothy Powers and Marcella Long.
Visitation will be 11:30 am until the time of service at 1:30 pm Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 920 Milton Rd. Alton, IL with Pastor Randy Fischer officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
