James Dohle

James “Jim” J. Dohle, age 79, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, with his family present, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon. Jim was born on January 31, 1947, in Edwardsville, IL, the son of the late Henry W. Dohle, Jr. & Louise J. (Vanzo) Dohle.

Jim married Nancy (Kleinschmidt) Dohle in Edwardsville on August 22, 1975, and just celebrated 51 years together. Besides his wife Nancy, Jim is survived by a son, James J. Dohle, Jr., of St. Charles, MO; cousin, Vickie Vanzo Stassi; brother-in-law David Capstick of Jonesburg, MO; cousins, several nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews; in addition to his many friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Henry W. Dohle III; father-in-law and mother-in-law Richard (Dick) and Jackie Kleinschmidt, Florissant, MO; sister-in-law, Kathy Capstick, Jonesburg, MO; and brother-in-law, Steven Kleinschmidt.

Jim served proudly in the US Air Force 1966 through 1970 during the Vietnam Conflict 1967-1968. Jim was also a proud 60 year member of Laborers Local 179. After retiring from construction, he worked at the Edwardsville Township Park. Jim enjoyed watching his son play sports, and he really enjoyed playing euchre and holding court at various establishments in town.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 1, at 11:30 am also at the funeral home with Fr. Rob Johnson presiding. Interment will be at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
