James Claire Wood Sr. died Friday, January 27, 2017. He was born November 5, 1923. He was 93. He was a long time resident of Belleville IL, Chesterfield MO, and Lone Oak TX . He raised his family in Riverbend Subdivision in Chesterfield MO. His last place of residence was Santa Clarita CA. His son, James C. Wood Jr., and his wife, Randi, lovingly opened their home to him there to assure his quality of life in his final years. Jim was a veteran who served in World War II, as a Corporal and Acting Platoon Sergeant from 1943-1946. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Ann (Sullivan) Wood, and his daughter Claire A. Hill. He is survived by five children, James C. Wood Jr., Nancy L. Heideman, Martin M. Wood, Ellen L. Baramki and Susan Plafcan. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, James C. Wood III, Ryan Wood, Christie O'Grady, Sara Heideman, Kate Leveque, Alex Heideman, Emma Heideman, Jason Wood, Heather Wood, Leane Baramki, Elizabeth McReynolds, Paul McReynolds, Jenni Tate, and Mathew Besch, as well as 6 great grandchildren. A graveside service is scheduled at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, 3412 Frank Scott Pkwy West, Belleville IL 62223 on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10:30 AM.
