James “Jim” Butkovich, 75 of Wood River passed away Friday, July 25, 2025. He was born October 30, 1949 in Wood River to Peter and Dorothy “Eloise” (Evans) Butkovich. He was retired from Laborers Local 338.
Jim enjoyed the simple life, golfing with his buddies, reading and being an avid Cardinals fan.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Ringering and her husband Dave of Lake Wylie, SC; nephew, Derek Ringering and his wife Kelly; niece, Rachel Wasserman and her husband Michael and great nephew and niece, Andrew and Olivia Wasserman and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday August 1, 2025 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River with Father Don Wolford as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
