James Crider

Wood River |

James Alfred (Al) Crider, 91, of Alton, Illinois passed away at 10:54 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born in Wood River, IL on July 6, 1931, to the late James W. Crider and the late Zelma Hogel Crider Rockefeller.

He was a painter, carpenter, and musician, playing music locally for years with brothers Jack and Gary.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served in Korea.

He is survived by his daughter Kathy (Oscar) Robbins, daughter Chris (Bob) Jackson, daughter Norma (Ed) Zelenka all of Gillespie, IL, and son Steven Crider of Alton IL. 7 Grandchildren Oscar (Tim Roberson) Robbins Jr. of Springfield IL, Wendy (Terri Michki) Whitworth of Benld IL, Stacy (Kyle) Knutson of Corpus Christi Texas, Meghan (Jeff) Hopper of Gillespie IL, Zachary Zelenka of Gillespie IL, Alex (Brendon) Campbell of Petersburg IL, and Colton Crider of Riverton IL. 7 Great Grandchildren Curtis Whitworth of Benld IL, Michael Colton and Mason Hopper of Gillespie IL, Elliana Knutson of Corpus Christi Texas, and Jaxon and Levi Campbell of Petersburg IL.

There will be a Celebration of Life on November 19, 2022, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, at the VFW in Staunton, IL (120 E Henry St, Staunton, IL 62088). Memorials can be made there to the family to help with expenses.
