Jacqueline R. Carrigan, 73, died at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at her home in Godfrey.  Born April 21, 1937 in Grafton, she was the daughter of Lester G. and Mildred (Short) Chappee.  She retired as a teller manager for Wedge Bank in Brighton and had worked part time in the women’s clothing department at J.C. Penney at Alton Square Mall.  She studied music under Kay Shanahan and sang with a local opera group.  She also sang in the choir of the First Congregational Church in Alton as well as other churches in the area. 

On January 15, 1993 in Godfrey, she married Jerome L. Carrigan.  He survives.  Also surviving are three daughters, Laura (John) Read of San Antonio, TX, Kelly (Paul) Schwartz of Jasper, IN, and Michelle (Jim) Dunham of Alton, one son, Mark Wakeford of Lebanon, IL, two step-sons, Edward H. (Kevin) Carrigan of San Francisco, CA, and Jay M. (Lisa) Carrigan of Lucas, TX, 13 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton and will continue from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. 

Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.  Chaplain (Colonel) John D. Read will officiate. 

Memorials may be made to the Duey and Colten Skinner Fund at the Jersey State Bank in Jerseyville.
