Jacqueline M. Martin, 91, died at 11:57 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Christian Hospital N.E. in St. Louis. She was born September 21, 1925 in Alton the daughter of the late William and Alma (McGarvey) Hopper. She was a seamstress for many years and was owner of Jackie’s Drapery’s in Alton for over 45 years. On January 23, 1942 in St. Charles, MO she married James L. “Bud” Martin and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2012. Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia J. Chestnut of St. Louis and one son, James M. Martin of St. Louis, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 with Reverend Andre’ Dobson officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member.
