Jacqueline “Jackie” Daniel, 75, formerly of Jerseyville, died at 8:20 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2013 at her home in Freeburg, IL. She was born in Detroit, MI on January 8, 1938, one of four children born to the late Francis & Florence G. (Pearcy) Long.

She married Joe Daniel on July 17, 1955 in Benton, MO and together they shared nearly 33 years of marriage before his death on February 7, 1988.

Jackie was raised in Sikeston, MO and moved to the Jerseyville area in 1970.  She was a dedicated homemaker who made family life her focus.  After Joe’s passing, Jackie began working as a cashier at Medord’s Amoco Food Shop, where she made many friendships.   

Surviving are her two children, Laura Schade of Fosterburg; Rick (and Rina) Daniel of Freeburg; a grandson, P.J.  (and Becky) Piel; two great grandchildren Molly & Vincent Piel; a brother and his spouse, Kenneth and Barbara Long of Sikeston, MO; a sister, Becky Fittchett of Phoenix; as well as various in-laws - Loren and Marilyn Barrish of Brighton; Orvie & Beulah McClain of Jerseyville; Betty Buck of Jackson, MO; and Elvin & Gayla Volz of Oak Ridge, MO.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jackie was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Barrish; her son-in-law Mike Schade; as well as in-laws - Joe & O’Neida Zieglar, Charlie & Carolyn Daniel, Lee & Jane Pattengill, Kenneth Buck, and numerous friends and loved ones.  All await the resurrection to life promised by Our God and Father and our beloved Brother and Lord Jesus the Christ, the hope of all mankind.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon, Wednesday, October 2, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.  Burial will follow alongside her husband at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
