Jackie Taulbee

Jackie Taulbee, 68, died at 10:33 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton. Born March 29, 1944 in Coffeen, IL, he was the son of the late Jackie Middleton and Cecil (Sherer) Zimmerman and step father, Harley Zimmerman. His adoptive parents were the late Dewey and Blanche Taulbee. He attended Hillsboro High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wood River. Mr. Taulbee was a manager for Burger Chef for 20 years and then worked as a truck driver for several years. He later worked for Eagle Asphalt for six years. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and dancing. On June 2, 1965 he married Doris (Gerard) Fee. They later divorced. He married Carol McKenzie on May 5, 1989 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sondra Blotevogel (Tom) of Worden, and Kimberly Pavish (Earl) of Godfrey, and a son, W. Bryan Taulbee (Laura) of Alton, nine grandchildren, Richard (Kim), Cody, Kyle, Zachary, Justin, McKenzie, Frederick, Bradley, and Ava. Also surviving are his siblings; Barbara Zavala (Joe) of Hayward, CA, Betsy Shewmake (Jack) of Godfrey, Richard Zimmerman (Karon) of Roxana, and Margaret Ann Schmidt (Wayne) of East Alton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Alex Taulbee, and a brother, Thomas Zimmerman. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be private. Reverend Robert Kirbach will officiate.
