Jackie "Jack" Lee Hammond, 63, of Bethalto, passed away on December 16, 2023, at 10:45 am, at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born on November 15, 1960, in Wood River, the son of Oscar "Jr." E. and Lois Ann (Walls) Hammond. Jack married Barbara Richards on November 1, 2014, at their home.
Jack worked throughout the area as a carpenter. He was a member of Forest Homes 1st Southern Baptist Church. Jack was a member of the Alton Eagles Club. He enjoyed music, singing and dancing with friends and family. Jack loved going out in the woods to explore with his kids. He never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. Most of all, Jack loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his children, Cory (Elisabeth) Hammond of Phoenix, AZ, Corissa (Brad Papa) Hammond of Bethalto, Chad (fiance Ann Bieller) Hammond of Wood River, Luke (Stephanie Milentz) Richards of Granite City, and Laura Richards of Wood River; his siblings, Audrey Hammond of Missouri, Mark (Shelia) Hammond of Edwardsville, Stephen (Jeris) Hammond of Missouri, and Billy (Ronda) Hammond of Grafton; nine grandchildren, Gracie, Macie, Ivan, Jacob, Reyna, Judah, Mikah, Jocelynn "Baby J", and Hudson; and two dear friends, Gary Richard, Donny Kelsay and many more.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Gary and Michael Hammond.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
