Jack Johnson

Jack Darrell Johnson Jr., 77, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Evelyn’s House in St. Louis, Missouri.

Born on October 15, 1947, in Plato, Missouri, Jack was the beloved son of the late Jack Darrell Johnson Sr. and Madelien (Johns) Johnson. A proud Vietnam Veteran, he served his country with courage and honor in the United States Army.

On January 17, 1970, Jack married the love of his life, Jacquelene Lee Holman, in Granite City. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to love and devotion until Jacquelene’s passing on May 25, 2012.

Jack built a career as a computer specialist with the I.S.A. in St. Louis, where his dedication and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Outside of work, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures—hiking, watching classic westerns, and cheering on every sport from the comfort of home. His greatest joy, however, was always his family. Whether sharing laughter, stories, or lunch dates with his cherished daughter-in-law, Jessica, Jack’s heart was fullest when surrounded by those he loved.

He will be remembered for his easy smile, his love of laughter, and the unwavering devotion he held for his family. His presence touched many lives, and his absence will be deeply felt.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd and Dan Johnson.

He is survived by his loving sons, Bill Johnson and Darrell (Jessica) Johnson, both of Granite City; his dear sister, Charlotte Johnson of Farmersville, Indiana; his treasured grandchildren, Damian Johnson of St. Louis, Shelby (Rhemi) Seib of Granite City, and Ashley (Travis) Lynn of Valley Park, MO,and his adored great-granddaughter, Aurora Seib, He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
