Imogene Walter
Brighton | Save
Our mom, Imogene Rose (Hochstuhl) Walter, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at the age of 99, surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 21, 1927, to Eugene and Rose (Bachman) Hochstuhl. On June 5, 1948, she married Maurice G. Walter, and together they shared many years of life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, and her son, Bruce A. Walter. She is survived by her children, Stephen M. Walter, Cealy S. Walter (Paul), and Valerie K. Pursley (Steve), along with her grandchildren, Jessica, Sandy, Ben, and Tim, and four great-grandchildren.
Mom had a quiet strength and determination that carried her through life. She loved nature and had a true gift for growing things. Over the years, she created so many beautiful gardens-places full of color and life. She could make just about anything grow, and she took pride in it. She also raised canaries and finches that filled the house with their songs. She loved antiques and enjoyed collecting pieces that had a story to tell. And she definitely had a sweet tooth-chocolate cookies and cheesecake were always among her favorites.
More than anything, she was an amazing mom. She loved her family deeply and that love is something we will carry with us always. Her strength and care will never be forgotten. We will miss her more than we can ever put into words, but we’ll think of her in blooming flowers, in birdsong, and in all the little things she loved. She will always be part of us.
There will be no service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children or BJC Hospice.
