Margaret Bowman

Margaret Ilene Bowman, 96, of Godfrey, IL, passed away at 5:10 am, Monday, June 29, 2026 at LaBella of Alton. She was born to Opal and Margurite (Pennington) Chastain on July 30, 1929 in Salem, Indiana.

She was a retired cashier at Alton High School. She was a member of Heartland Baptist Church. She married Bill Bowman on November 1, 1952 in Salem, Indiana.

Surviving are her sons and daughters, Robert (Toni) Bowman, Terry (Lisa) Bowman, Barbara (Dave) Davis, Jeanne Bowman (Neil Sherman), and Missie (John) Murphy; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, sons, Jeffry Bowman and Gary Bowman, her sister, Jean Ingram and her parents.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm, Monday July 6, 2026 at Gent Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Alton. Funeral service will be held at 12 pm, Monday, July 6, 2026 at the funeral home, with Rev. Alex Melton officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto.
