Howard Raymond Harris of Litchfield, IL passed away at his home with family by his side on February 13, 2026.
Ray was born on December 3, 1947, in Bonne Terre, MO to Howard and Jessie Cruse Harris Miller. He and his wife Donna were married in 1995.
Ray graduated high school in 1966 from Esther High School in Esther, MO then proudly served his country in Vietnam. He attended college at Southern IL University – Edwardsville then went to work at National Steel in Granite City. He attended Southwest IL College and graduated from the pipefitter program and worked as a pipefitter for National Steel until his retirement in 2001.
Ray loved anything outdoors including fishing and camping, but he mostly loved getting together with family and friends at their home. Ray’s passion was anything to do with classic cars from buying, selling and rebuilding them to attending classic car shows with his wife, car buddies and his son David. Ray’s heart and his wit will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his wife Donna, son David Harris of East Alton, IL, daughters Kellie (Curtis) Monteith of Waynesville, NC, Jennifer (Mark) Henrichs, Gillespie, IL, grandchildren Alexis (Justin) Hagan, Brianne (Loren) Scheller, Paige Harris, Taylor (Ian) Weishaupt, Nathan (Megan) Henrichs, Wyatt Harris, great grandchildren Rylan, Collins, Adler, Oakley, Salem, Bernie, Hayden, brothers Richard (Jewell) Harris of Farmington, MO and Brad (Brenda) Harris of Ironton, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Patricia Harris and brother Roger Harris.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 21st from 9 – 11 at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie with the funeral service to follow at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery.
