Howard Fletcher, 82, died at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Robings Manor in Brighton. He was born March 31, 1930 in White Hall the son of the late John William and Bertha Fletcher.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton and VFW Post 1308. In January of 1987 he retired as manager of Kroger in Godfrey after 39 years of service. He loved golf, trout fishing and traveling. He married DaLoris Jean Israel. She preceded him in death. On March 5, 1982 in Alton he married Loretta (Bolen) Price. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter; Julia Johnson (Gary) of Moro, a son; Jeff Fletcher (Kelli) of East Alton, step-children; Bob Price (Joyce) of Alton and Andy Price (Maria) of Highland, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Candy Ehlers and six half brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Main Street United Methodist Church followed by burial at 2:00 p.m. at White Hall Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 1308. Reverend Jamie Hahs to officiate.
