Hervel Lee Baugh, 88, passed away at 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at Sycamore Village in Swansea, IL.
Born May 24, 1932 in Belleview, IL, he was a son of Henry and Sadie (Sidwell) Baugh.
He married Marlon Pepper June 2, 1954 in Astoria (Clatsop County) Oregon. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2020. He missed her a lot.
Hervel graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1949 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1951. He served until his Honorable Discharge in 1955 as Yeoman Second Class. He retired from S.M.Wilson Construction after 15 years of continuous employment. He was a proud union member of Local 520 Operating Engineers. He had driven trucks for Columbiana Seed Company, Piasa Motor Fuels, Mayflower and CBW Transport. He also sold new cars for Chuck Diering Ford in Alton.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Jimmy Dotson; one grandson, Andy and his wife Nao Barron and their children Mia and Ken; and one sister, Anna Ruth Webster.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Winfred, Odessa (Detty) DeGerlia, Hobart, William, Jack, Albert, and Morland.
