Herbert Mansholt

Dateline:  GodfreyHerbert Edward Mansholt, 89, died at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.  Born October 27, 1928 in Alton, he was the son of John and Leda (Huffstutler) Mansholt.  Mr. Mansholt served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge #25.  He retired from McDonnell Douglas in 1991 as a design engineer after 25 years of service.  On November 17, 1956 he married the former Juanita Mae Shaw in Alton.  She survives.  Also surviving is a son, John H. Mansholt of O’Fallon, IL.  All services will be private.  Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
