Herbert A. Cope Jr., 66, of Alton, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:48 am at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 27, 1952, in Woodriver IL, the son of Herbert A. and Betty Lou (Keel) Cope Sr.
On November 23, 1970 in Godfrey, IL, he married Jo Ann Carroll. She survives.
Herbert was an Owner and Operator of Cope and Sons Asphalt and Sealing. He enjoyed puzzles, camping, fishing, tinkering, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Cope; three children, Tabitha Cope (Kyle Stevens), Sabrina Schwegel (Mark), and Herbert Cope III (Pam); 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his mother, Betty Lou Cope; and a brother, Danny Cope (Annetta).
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Cope Sr.; a sister, Deborah Sitton; and a grandson, Nathan Colonna.
A visitation will be Thursday, November 8, 2018, from 4 pm until time of services at 6 pm at the Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
