Henry Beiser

Henry Penning Beiser, 86, died at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton. Born August 20, 1931 in Alton, he was the son of David and Margaret (Penning) Beiser. Mr. Beiser graduated from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, class of 1953 and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and the Alton Knight of Columbus since 1953. He retired in 1990 as a counselor/teacher from the Granite School District after 32 years of service. On May 18, 1957 he married the former Suzanne Chappell in Alton. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Mark Beiser of Peoria, IL, Christopher Beiser (Mary) of Alton, and Steven Beiser of Alton, seven grandchildren, Benjamin Beiser, Nicholas Beiser, Andrew Beiser, Ashley Righter (Zachary), Elizabeth Beiser, Megan Beiser, and Brian Beiser, and one great grandchild, Willow Beiser. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Joseph Beiser. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Private burial will follow for the immediate family. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
