Henry Boren

Henry Otis Boren, 76, died at 8:32 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  Born March 2, 1943 in Olmstead, IL, he was the son of Henry and Evelyn (Hise) Carter.  Mr. Boren served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a director for the Olin Corporation after 37 ½ years of service.  He was a Mason and a member of the Alton Moose, the Alton-Wood River Sportsmen’s Club, and the American Legion.  He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, playing golf and visiting with his family and friends.  On June 23, 1962 he married the former Sandra K. Steele in Denison, TX.  She survives.  Also surviving is a daughter, Kim Chestney (Hobbie) of Gulf Breeze, FL, two sons, Greg Boren of Elsah, IL, and Darrin Boren (fiancé Shannon Stockton) of Wood River, 10 grandchildren, Tyler, Seth, Megan, Jared, Hobbie, Erin, Justin, Dani, Sam and Cody.  Also surviving are two brothers, Herman Boren (Dorothy) of Godfrey, and James F. Boren (Frances) of Nebo, two sisters, Marion J. Sanders of Godfrey, and Rosa H. Berkel (Bill) of Rosewood Heights, and a sister-in-law, Dolores Boren of Brighton.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Boren and a brother-in-law, Arnold Sanders.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon Friday, June 28, 2019 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate.  Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.  Memorials may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research or the Wounded Warrior Project.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
