Helen Wade

Helen Wade, 89, passed away peacefully at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Integrity of Godfrey.  She was born February 28, 1928 in Pozen, Poland the daughter of Roman and Katarzyna (Wojciechowska) Smol.   She worked for more than 30 years as a waitress at the Stratford Hotel in Alton.   She attended 12^th Street Presbyterian Church in Alton.  She loved to play cards, enjoyed trout fishing, shopping and spending time with her family. On April 3, 1967 in Alton, she married Maurice Wade and he preceded her in death in 1993.  Surviving are two sons; Rick Springman of Godfrey and Ronald Springman of Venice, Florida, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and one sister; Ursula McGaughey (Don) of Bethalto.   She was preceded in death by one brother; Edmund Smol and one sister; Lena Lasinski.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor Steven Helfrich officiating.  Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Senior Services Plus.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
