Helen Louise Dreasher, 91, died at 8:35 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Bethalto Care. She was born April 15, 1925 in Whiting, Indiana the daughter of the late Roy and Isabelle (Peck) Rushing. She retired in 1991 from A Storage Inn as property manager she also worked as a district manager with Avon.
She was a member of Community Christian Church and a die-hard Cardinal fan who enjoyed playing bridge, and bingo, who also loved her family and country music. On February 13, 1965 in Danville, IL she married Earl W. Dreasher and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1992. Surviving are two sons; Ron (Joy) Swaim of Godfrey, Russell (Vicki) Swaim of Livingston, IL and one daughter; Cathie (Mike) Roosmann of Godfrey, eleven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, six half brothers and sisters, one of which preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are two brothers; Omar Rushing, Tony Rushing and one sister; Virginia Reedy.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 with Pastor Dave Burger Officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
