Harry "Truman" Yates, age 65, passed away at 6:08 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at his residence, with his family by his side.

He was born on July 26, 1944 in Benton Co. MO, and then raised in Weakley Co. TN. Son of the late Leslie & Edna Addison (Hill) Yates.

He married Rosemary Ann (Perkins) in Alton on July 10, 1964. She survives.

Truman was the owner / operator of Quality concrete for 25 years. He was a member of the Labor Local # 338 and # 44. He loved to fish, cook and spend time with will all his friends and family. Most of all he loved to help teach young men to work and how to make a living.

He is survived by his four sons, Thomas Dale Yates and Patty Foraker of S. Roxana, James Leslie Yates and Melissa Vorhees of Wood River, John Truman and Kay Yates of Meadowbrook and Timothy Wayne Yates and Melissa Bell of Wood River; 8 Grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Tyler, Conner, Mallory, Hannah, Matthew and Kyle; 6 extended grandchildren; 1 great-grandson, Brayden; four bothers and sisters, Velma Waddell of Greenfield, TN, Gilbert Yates of Greenfield, TN, David Yates of Edwardsville and Steven Ray Yates of E. Alton.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, two brothers, Bobby Yates and Lennon Yates and one sister, Mary Sue Bayhylle.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf in Bethalto, with Pastor Ron Mullins officiating and his wife Judy.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to charity of ones choice.
