Harry Stockton "Dutch" Goheen Jr.

Harry Stockton "Dutch" Goheen Jr., 70, died at 3:27 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Jersey Community Hospital  after a brief battle with multiple myeloma.

He was born in Newbern on Oct. 19, 1942, the second of five children born to the late Harry Stockton & Verna (Miller) Goheen Sr.

He graduated in 1962 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, and was well known and respected in the auction community, where he made a career out of buying and selling.  He was proud of the friendships that he made with that community, and was deeply touched by their concern and generosity.

He married the former Grace Kissee on June 6, 1970 in Jerseyville, and she survives.

Also surviving are four children, Tanya Engleby of Harrisburg, Denise Pruitt of Jonesboron, Stacy Goheen and Stuart Goheen both of Springfield; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Joy Hendy of Jerseyville; two brothers, Donald Goheen of East Alton and Terry Goheen of Cottage Hills.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Grace Lee Goheen; and an infant brother, Edward Goheen.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
