Harry E. Williams, 90, died at 1:31 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. 

Born February 7, 1929 in Alton, he was the son of Robert W. and Georgia (Lyons) Williams.  Mr. Williams served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army.  He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton and a lifetime member of the Alton VFW Post 1308. 

On December 31, 1953 he married the former Kathleen Cecilia Stalcup in Brighton.  She preceded him in death on March 17, 2014.  In 1979 Mr. Williams retired as a police officer fromthe Alton Police Department after 25 years of service.  He then worked in the loan department for U.S. Bank and First Community Bank of Godfrey. 

Surviving are nine children, Sean (Barbara), Matthew (Cathy), Robert, Brian, Mary Ann, Christopher (Michelle), Peter (Becky), Harry (Katie), and Patrick.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Christina, Nicholas, Pamela, Sarah, Virginia, Megan, Courtney, Brandon, Emily, Kathryn, Owen, Abigail, Sean, Rory, Brian, Cecilia, and Parker Jane, and great grandchildren, William, Gabrielle, Olivia, Lillian, Ellie, Carson, William “Liam”, Aubrey, and Ryder.  He is also survived by a sister, Roberta Fleming. 

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Alice, Virginia, Harold, Vernon, Dorothy, Maxine and Billy. 

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at Gent Funeral Home. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton.  Father Jason Stone will officiate. 

Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church or SS Peter & Paul Catholic School.
