Harriett Rhodes Harriett L. Rhodes, age 99, formerly of Upper Alton, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015, at United Methodist Village.She was born April 10, 1916, in Alton, the daughter of Chester and Ethel (Hale) Walker. She married C. Harry Rhodes on May 22, 1934, in Alton, and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2007.She and her husband owned and operated the Snack Shack Drive-In in Granite City for twelve years and retired in 1966. She then became a tax preparer for H & R. Block in Wood River for 29 years. Harriett was an avid Cardinals fan. She was a lifetime member of Abundant Life Church in AltonShe is survived by a son and his wife, Gene and Darlene Rhodes of East Alton; two grandsons and their wives, Randall and Diana Rhodes of Jackson, MO, and Michael and Karen Rhodes of East Alton; five great-grandchildren,  Katie Rhodes, Sara and Tim Kluesner, Joanna and Sam Huff, Alex Rhodes, and Christopher Rhodes; four great-great-grandchildren, Marcus, Ariana, Noah, and Maddox; a brother, George Walker of Chandler, AZ; a sister, Mary Beth Ebker of Streator, IL;  and many other relatives and friends.In addition to her husband, C. Harry; she is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.Visitation will be held at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Roy Rhodes officiating.Burial will take place in Upper Alton Cemetery.Memorials may be made to Abundant Life ChurchOnline condolences and guestbook may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com.
