Harriett Hochstuhl, 76, died at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born September 10, 1935, in Wood River Township, she was the daughter of Earl “Butch” and Opal (Hatcher) Miller. She attended Upper Alton Baptist Church and was very active with the Weavers Guild. On December 28, 1951 in Alton, she married Daniel Hochstuhl. He survives. She was preceded in death by her only child, Charmaine Barnal. Surviving, along with Daniel, is their son through marriage to Charmaine, Michael Barnal and his wife Pamela of Edwardsville, four grandchildren, Phillip Barnal, Daisy Barnal, Derek Bruce, and Shawn Bruce, one great grandchild, Carson Hare, one brother, Wayne Miller, and four sisters, Jane Dare, Mary Cloud, Barbara Harder, and Brenda Plunk. Also preceding her in death are two brothers, Rance and Virgil Miller, and a sister, Lena Steiner. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Upper Alton Baptist Church. Reverend Brad Donoho will officiate. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Upper Alton Baptist Church. Gent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
