Wood River—Harold W. Sinclair, 89, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born March 16, 1927 in Alton, he was the son of Harold and Margaret (Neumann) Sinclair.
Harold worked for over 45 years as an operating engineer for Local #520. He was very proud to say he worked on the Melvin Price Lock and Dam #26R from beginning to end. He was a former member of the Wood River Moose Lodge and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed singing along with music by Mario Lanza and working in his yard. Most of all he loved his family.
He is survived by his children, Bill (Marla) Sinclair of Rosewood Heights, Richard (Terry) Sinclair of Godfrey, and Leigh Ann (“Dink”) St. Peters of Taylor, Miss.; grandchildren Scott Wathern of Tampa, Fla., Shana Hall and Ryan Landry, both of Edwardsville, Adam (Rachel) Sinclair of Medora, Brian Sinclair of St. Louis, Marissa and Megan St. Peters, both of Taylor, Miss., and Michelle Sinclair of Boonville, Mo.; great grandchildren, Haleigh and Kynzie Sinclair of Medora; a sister, Becky Pankratz of La Canada, Calif.; and his former wife, Norma Sinclair of Roxana, who continued to be an important part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lynn M. Riley; a son, James E. Sinclair; and three sisters, Helen Ufert, Marcella Wilson, and Delores Pitt.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at Paynic Home for Funerals. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River, with Father Donald Wolford as Celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
