Harold Ray Benton, Jr. 51, passed away at 6:40 pm Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton with his family by his side.
He was born on July 21, 1964 in Wood River, IL, the son of Harold Ray and Sheila Joyce (Irvin) Benton, Sr.
He married Cindy M. Walker on July 17, 1987 in Alton. She survives.
Jr, was a machinist at Part Stop and previously he owned Jr’s Place in Hartford. He was a member of the Bootleggers Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed partying with his friends, working on cars, racing and he loved anything with wheels. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them. He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Cindy, he is survived by his mom of Cottage Hills; his children, Ashley and Daniel Allen of Collinsville and James “Jimmy” Benton and his fiancé, Lyndsey Kelso of Moro; two sisters, Terri Benton of Cottage Hills and Sherri and Mike Reedy of St Jacob, IL; his grandchildren, Camille, Gunner, Landen, Chandler, Payton, Ty, Makina and Kaleb and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Benton and a sister, Sheila Marjorie Benton.
A memorial visitation will be from 1 to 5 pm Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, December 21, 2015 at the funeral home.
Inurnment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the funeral home for expenses or the American Lung Cancer Society.
