Harold Meisenheimer

Harold Louis Meisenheimer, age 90, of Alton, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.He was born November 26, 1927, in Alton, IL, the son of Harold and Louise (Bauer) Meisenheimer. Harold married Alvie Sharp on April 9, 1949 in Alton, she survives.He worked for many years at the Owens Illinois Glass Company. Harold was the oldest of six children. He  proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1946 until 1948. He was a member of the Church of Christ on Humbert Road in Alton. His passion was history and he researched and put historical facts together pertaining to the history of the Illinois Glass Works, the Meisenheimer family, Mayors of Alton, Cemeteries of Madison County and the Military Veterans of Madison County.Harold  is survived by his wife of Alvie; his sisters, Violet Sackett, Alice (Bob) Clayton, Marilyn (Larry) King; a brother in law, Benjamin Bridgeman, numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Laura Bridgeman, a brother, John in infancy and a brother in law, Glenn Sackett.A Visitation will be held Monday, July 9, 2018 from 9am until the service at 12 pm at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
