Harold Siebert

Harold Kenneth “Kenny” Siebert, 84, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:53 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018 at his home. 

He was born October 14, 1933 in Mulberry Grove, Illinois, a son of the late Carl W. and Opal V. (Eller) Siebert.  He married Barbara A. (Braden) Siebert on August 30, 1975 in Granite City and she passed away on June 18, 1996. 

He retired from McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri after 30 years of work in aeronautics and was privileged to work on the Gemini Spacecraft.  He had also retired from the United States Navy and had proudly served his country during the Korean War and had received numerous medals and recognitions throughout his service.  He was a member of the AMVETS Post #51 and enjoyed the many years of turkey shoots. 

He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.  He is survived by a daughter, Jaymie (Helen) Reinstein of Kirkwood, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Carrie (Tom) Aldridge of Granite City and Beth Smith of Granite City; stepson, Robert Vaughn of Granite City; two grandsons and adopted sons, Donnie (Amanda) Caughron of Blackwell, Missouri and Chris Caughron of Roxana; four grandsons, Ryan (Matt) Mueller, Jake Mueller, Rhett Mueller and Jesse (Micky) Mueller; three granddaughters, Megan Siebert, Heather Siebert and Kristin Vaughn; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice (Anna) Siebert of Granite City and Norman (Jeana) Siebert of Vandalia; sister, Sally (Mick) Broaddus of Raymond; brother-in-law, Carol Merritt of Taylorville; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. 

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Kenneth, Steven and Ronnie Siebert; two sisters, Lucille Snow and Linda Merritt and two brothers, Carl and Daniel Siebert.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Ben Ritz officiating. 

Burial with full military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City.
