Harold H. Golike, 95, passed away at 10:15 am on Saturday March 4, 2017 with his wife by his side.
He was born on August 14, 1921 in Alton, the son of the late Homer D. and Nellie L. (Huette) Golike.
He married Norma J. Kunz on October 13, 1997 in Fosterburg. She survives.
Harold graduated from Alton High School before entering the United States Army in 1942. He served our county during WWII until he showed up at home the day after Christmas in 1944, his family and church were surprised when he just showed up and got out of a taxi. He became a farmer and served on the Madison County Farm Bureau Board. Harold worked at CBW Trucking for several years until he and his brother, Don, operated a Minneapolis Moline, tractor business.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a sister and her spouse, Marie (Clay) Ringhausen; in laws Jean Golike, Schardelle Paul, Lowell (Barbara) Kunz, H. Homer (Ann) Kunz, and Cathy Kunz; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Laverne Golike; four brothers and their spouses Don (Betty) Golike, Chuck (lois) Golike, Albert (Nina) Golike, William “Bill” Golike; in laws Maurice Paul and Ed Kunz.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm 8 pm on, Thursday March 9, 2017, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on, Friday March 10, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Fosterburg.
