Hamer B. Taylor, 96, of Bethalto, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Riverside Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Alton.
Born June 26, 1924, in Blytheville, AR, he was a son of Aubrey E. and Maureen (Dozier), Taylor.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he married Dolores V. Koprich on Oct. 16, 1948, in Bethalto. She preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 2014.
Hamer was a pipefitter and also worked maintenance for Alton Box Board. He and Delores bowled in a senior league together for many years.
He is survived by a daughter, Cathy Berghoff of Alton; a son, John B. (Patty) Taylor of Brighton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother Eugene (Mary) Taylor of Hinckley, IL.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Frye and June Hicks; a brother, William Taylor; and his son-in-law, John Berghoff.
