Guy O. Bigham, 82, of Godfrey passed away on Friday April 14, 2017, 3:45pm at Rosewood Care Center of Alton.
He was born on June 24, 1934 Blytheville, Arkansas, the son of the late William and Effie Ellen (McKnight) Bigham.
He married Hazel R. Elliot on April 7, 1959 in St. Charles, MO. She Survives
One of Guy’s passions besides spending time with his beloved wife of 58 years was boating, and he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed four wheeling. He was a member of the former Fraternal Order of Eagles #254, Alton-Wood River Sportsmen’s Club, and the Alton Motorboat Club.
In addition to his wife Hazel, he is also survived by a step-son and his wife Dennis and Marilyn Alverson of Statham, GA; a son in law Richard Nixon of Carthage, MO; six grandchildren Christy Stanley of Reeds, MO, Barry Luebbert of Webb City, MO, Jeanna Nixon of Carthage, MO., and Brandon Nixon of Carthage, MO., Bill Nelson of Winder, GA, and Travis Nelson, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren a brother and sister in law: Monroe and Vera Bigham of O’Fallon, MO , several nieces, nephews, a longtime dear family friend: Kika Moore of Alton, other extended family and many other friends.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son: Thomas Bigham, a step-daughter: Brenda S. Nixon, 3 Brothers Charles, Troy, and Clyde Bigham, a sister Sally Gaines,
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Elias-Kallal-Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, where services will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Heart Association.
