Gregory Alan Roberts, 41, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013 at his home in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on April 14, 1972 in Alton, IL, the son of Myrna Jill (Jones) Roberts and Wendell Ray Roberts.
He graduated from East Alton-Wood River Community High School in 1990. He attended St. Louis Community College Culinary program. He was employed in the restaurant industry for 20 years, including Tony’s Restaurant in downtown St. Louis, Schlafly microbrewery, and most recently, Ruth Chris Restaurant in Clayton, MO.
He was passionate about military history and baseball. He was a lifelong Cardinal baseball fan and rarely missed a game.
Greg is survived by his parents, his brother, Jeffrie B. Roberts and wife, Stacey of New Brunswick, New Jersey; a sister, Cynthia A. (Roberts) Leonard and husband, David of Cobb, CA; a brother, Stanley K Roberts and his wife, Sue of Baytown, TX; nieces, Catherine Roberts, Emily Roberts, Elizabeth Roberts, and Maya Leonard; nephew, Nathan Roberts; great nephew, Rodney Denson as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Lily Jones of East Alton and paternal grandparents, James Irby and Dulcie Lee Roberts.
Visitation will be from 11 am until funeral services at 1 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Dale Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to St. Louis University Hospital Emergency Room.
