Granville Wayne Cletcher, 91, died at 6:35 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 while under the loving care of BJC Hospice.
He was born July 10, 1923 in Eldorado, IL the son of Granville and Sophia (Piland) Cletcher. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Iceland with the Signal Corp. He retired from Alton Box board and was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God in Godfrey. Wayne lived in Schenectady, New York and had four children; Janis, Joyce, Ted and Paul. On October 7, 1966 in Alton he married Ruby Aurella (Williams) and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter; Janice Watts Ligon (John) of Alton and one son; Michael R. Watts (Rhonda) of White Oak, TX. Five grandchildren; Jeff Watts (Becky) of Longview, TX, Veronica Ligon Pinion (Ron) of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Michael W. Ligon (Charlotte) of Roxanna, Chance A. Watts of White Oak, TX and Bianca N. Watts of White Oak, TX., eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor Jim Heil to officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Assembly of God in Godfrey.
