Grace E. Green, 95, passed away at 10:35 am Monday November 15, 2010 at Robings Manor in Brighton, IL.
She was born on December 9, 1914 in Roodhouse, IL, the daughter of the late Louis R. and Elizabeth M. (Heil) Bishop.
She married Everett W. Green on February 18, 1934 in Carrolton, IL. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1988.
Grace was a Bookkeeper for Mc Coy Transfer Company for many years retiring in 1974. She was the oldest surviving member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, a graduate of Carrolton High School, and also served as treasurer for many years of the Alton’s Women’s Council. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and making Afghans for all of her grandson’s. She and Everett were avid square dancers.
She is survived by three daughters and their spouses; Elizabeth and Dean Lingenfelter of Overland Park, KS. Judy and Larry Wallace of Brighton, IL. and Carol Peters of Kingwood, TX. Six grandchildren and their spouses; Madison and Alecia, and Garrett and Karen Lingenfelter, Kevin and Tonya, and Neal and Kathi Wallace, Jeffrey and Julie and Michael and Marianna Peters, and thirteen great grandchildren, Pagan, and Lillian Grace Lingenfelter, Adam, Samatha, Tarah, Beth, and Kaley Wallace, and Gabriela, Lauren, Christopher, Jacob, Joshua Peters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Stephen Peters, and a great grandson; Matthew Peters, and a brother Richard A. Bishop.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday November 18, 2010 and from 10 am until time of service at 11 am, on Friday November 19, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, the Rev. Jame Hahs and Rev. Bob Harris will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, in Bethalto.
