Gloria Winters

Gloria M. Winters, 85, died Friday, December 30, 2016 in Jupiter, Florida while visiting her daughters.  Born June 5, 1931 in Flint, Michigan, she was the daughter of Earl and Janice (Richards) Manns.  Mrs. Winters graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 1949 and was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  She was an avid Bridge player for over 60 years and cherished those times playing with many of her very special friends. She retired from the business office at Beverly Farm Foundation after over 30 years of service.  In March of 1965, she married Ernest L. Winters in Alton.  He preceded her in death on November 2, 1988.  Surviving are six daughters, Michelle DeAngelis (Ernie) of Tequesta, FL, Melanie Woodson of Farmington, PA, Glory Dabbs of Jupiter, FL, Dana Sedlak (Michael) of Jupiter, FL, Lucy Dabbs of Jupiter, FL, and Polly Walters (Mike) of Godfrey, nine grandchildren; Christopher Woodson, Nicholas DeAngelis, Jacob and Colin Weingart, Conner and Kelsey Sedlak, Hannah, Nathan and Meredith Walters, and numerous very special great grandchildren.  Also surviving are two sisters, Janice Jenkins of Chicago and Dana Hielema of Jupiter, FL and very special nieces and nephews.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Volo, a son, Timothy Winters, and three grandchildren, Michael DeAngelis, Chad Volo and Courtney Volo.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian burial at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton.  Father Jason Stone will officiate.  Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Beverly Farm Foundation or the SS Peter & Paul Ladies Auxiliary.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
