Glenn D. Whyers, 97, passed away at 6:44 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 12, 1928, in Alton, IL, to Robert and Mamie (Pfister) Whyers.
Glenn married Mildred Walton on January 17, 1953, in Richmond, VA.
A proud veteran, Glenn honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He went on to enjoy a long career as a Quality Control Food Technician with the Nestlé Company. Glenn was also a devoted member of Godfrey First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Ramona Whyers; grandson, Dustin (Christa) Whyers; and granddaughter, Ashley Whyers, all of Wood River.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Whyers; his father, Robert G. Whyers; his mother, Mamie Whyers; his son, Gregory Dale Whyers; brothers, Victor Whyers, Robert Whyers, and Vernon Whyers; and sisters, Dorothy A. Kennedy and Marie Hale.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home, Bethalto, Illinois with Pastor Tom Olney officiating.
Glenn will be laid to rest at Ingersoll Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team and active duty members of the United States Army.
