Glen “Skip” Roper, 86, died at 3:39 a.m. Monday, September 1, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born November 9, 1927 in Centralia, IL, he was the son of Roland and Lillian (Johnson) Roper. Mr. Roper served in the U. S. Army. He owned and operated Norstate Finance in Alton and later retired from Teamsters Credit Union in St. Louis. On September 9, 1960 he married the former Delores Pelot in Alton. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Teri Vandegriff (David) of Godfrey and Lori Meyer (Tom) of Ballwin, MO, two sons, Brian Roper of Godfrey and Scot Roper of Godfrey, six grandchildren, Jonothan and Ryan Darr, Brandon Roper, Andrew, Christopher and Matthew Meyer. Visitation was from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Reverend Jerry MeCaskey will officiate.
