Glen Melvin File, age 88 of Pocahontas, passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, in the Emergency Room at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland, Illinois.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Old Ripley Church of Christ. Interment will follow in File Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, July 6, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers and plants, please make memorials to the church. Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Glen Melvine File, the son of Loyd and Bernice Sackett File, was born April 6, 1938, in Bond County. Glen grew up in Bond County, raised on the family farm and attended the local schools. He graduated from Greenville High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. Glen faithfully served enlisting in 1959 and honorably discharged in 1963. He received the Good Conduct Medal and expert carbine medal.

He worked for Hulcher from 1976-2001, Hamel Service 1976-1966, and Nance Auto Salvage from 1961 – 1966.

Glen and Maxine A. Bilyeu were married on December 29, 1961, at the Old Ripley Church of Christ by Rev. Dan Wand. They enjoyed over 53 years together. Maxine passed away on May 17, 2015. They are the parents of Tommy (Mindy) File of Mulberry Grove and Rick (Missy) File of Greenville.

June 17, 2017, Glen married Katherine Kersey. She is the mother of Mary Brown of South Carolina, Brenda DePriest of South Carolina, and Nicole (Jeff) Sidwell of Florida.

Glen was one of 5 File children, surviving is his sister Charolette Lieser and preceded in death are siblings: Loyd Jr., Shirley Besher, and Dale.

Glen was the grandfather of Kelly (Jonathan) Moore, Nathan File, Cody Grotts, Colton (Sara) Grotts, great-grandchildren Carson and June, and step-grandfather of 6.
