Glen Bickmore

Glen Edward Bickmore, 75, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Eunice Smith in Alton.

He was born August 14, 1942, in Alton, the son of Edward and Jeannette (Goodall) Bickmore.

He was a loving husband, proud and devoted father, who supported, guided and taught his children.

Glen was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked at Olin Corporation as an adjuster. He was an electronic technician in research and development at Washington University where he helped build PET Scanners. He was the president of the Bethalto Khoury League from 1983 to 1987 where he managed and coached baseball teams. He was also a member of I.A.M. District 9 and member of Bethalto Senior Citizens Pinochle Club.

He married Rose Marie Meisenheimer on September 5, 1964, in Bethalto. She survives.

 

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Maria (Nat) Perkhiser of Bethalto, Jeffrey (Keri) Bickmore of Staunton, Teresa (Robert) Allman of Staunton and Christian (Missy) Bickmore of Bethalto; nine grandchildren, Joseph (Sarah) Perkhiser, Kennedy and Brady Bickmore, Craig (Haley) Hyden, Jill (Mark) Jeffery, Nick and Eric Streeb, Robin Armstrong, and Beca (Andrew) Crites; nine great grandchildren, Tucker and Savannah Perkhiser, Tristen and Tatum Hyden, Addison and Ella Jeffery, Carson Armstrong, Ava and Owen Crites; two sisters and two brothers, Peggy (Chuck) Bratten and Carol (Bob) Dehner (Bob and Glen walked hand in hand to Heaven), Richard (Dana) Bickmore, George (Barbara) Bickmore, and sister and brother-in-law Marlene (Mick) Barach; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Brenda Bickmore; brothers and sisters-in-law Richard (Josephine), Kenneth (Gladys), Robert (Leota) and Joseph (Reta) Meisenheimer.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the funeral home with Reverend Bill Pyatt officiating.

Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to the Bethalto United Methodist Church or TWIGS of Bethalto.
