Glen Voumard

Fosterburg |

Glen Clifford Voumard went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2017, in Colorado Springs, CO.  He was 95 years old. Glen was born to Emil and Mayme Voumard on September 4,1921, in Fosterburg, Illinois.  He had one older sister, Shirley.  He graduated from Alton High School in 1939.On December 18, 1942, he married Ruth Harman and they lived in Fosterburg, Illinois.  To this union, two children were born, Dennis and Donna. He worked at Shell Oil Company as a machinist for many years.  Later he began working as a Development Technician for McDonnell Douglas Corp. in St. Louis, MO, for over 25 years. He and Ruth were faithful members of the Fosterburg Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon for many years.  They sang in the choir as well as singing many duets together. He enjoyed bowling on a church team, playing his tuba in the Fosterburg Band and attending family gatherings playing horseshoes and other games, including Hand & Foot and Rook. In 2004, they moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Shirley Cramer and her husband, Albert. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Colorado Springs, son, Dennis (Sally) of Colorado Springs, daughter, Donna (Dean) Saffer of Arriba, CO, 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, several sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation is planned for Monday, July 3, from 9:30 - 11:00 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home, 2521 Edwards St., Alton.  Following will be a graveside service at Fosterburg Cemetery.
