Alton, IL - Gerold “Jake” L. Allen, 76, passed away at 7:44 am, Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his
residence with his family by his side.
He was born in Alton on June 4, 1940 the son of the late Leonard “Red” and
Evelyn R. (Schmidt) Allen.
He married Patricia (Forester) Allen in San Diego, CA she preceded him in death
in March of 2000.
He proudly served in the Navy from 1959-1963. He retired from Shell Oil where
he was a foreman. He was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308, The Masonic
Lodge and the American legion in Kampsville. His greatest joy was spending time
with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his significant other Mary Cunningham, two children and their
spouses; Michael and Brenda Allen of Maryland Heights, MO and Bradley and Jennifer
Allen of Godfrey, Three grandchildren; Jacob, Kylee, Daniel, two sister; Katherine and
David Thomas of Brighton, and Joyce, one brother; Jim
Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded with a celebration of life at a later date.
Burial will be at the Fosterburg Cemetery at a later date.
