Geraldine R. Moore, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 9:15 pm at her residence in Glen Carbon, IL.
She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on February 22, 1928, the daughter of Jerome and Margaret (Schingary) Oakley. Geraldine married Raymond A. Moore in Youngstown at the Chapel of the Friendly Bells on November 8, 1952. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2004.
Geraldine graduated from Olin School of Licensed Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1972 and began working at Alton Memorial Hospital, and after retiring years later, she continued to volunteer at Alton Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a member of College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, AMH White Cross Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. Geraldine moved to Scottsdale, AZ, in 2008 for a number of years where her son and daughter lived, and then returned to Glen Carbon, IL in 2022. She enjoyed golf, painting, travel, pineapple martinis, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Amy (Fred) Corsi of Phoenix, AZ, Sally Moore of Bethalto, IL, and Raymond (Terri) Moore of Camdenton, MO; a sister, Joyce (Lewis) Watford of Marietta, GA; a brother, Robert Oakley of Marietta, GA; and four grandchildren, Zachary Moore, Alexander Corsi, Jered Moore, and Jenna Moore.
Along with her parents, and husband, Raymond, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Frances Majdeski and Donna Green; and an infant brother, Jerome Oakley.
Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded by Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. A private inurnment will take place at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
