Geraldine Everage

Geraldine “Jeri” Everage, 74 departed this life Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Geraldine was born March 12, 1941 in Tunica, Mississippi to the union of Ruby Roseman and the late Cottrell Banks.  She attended school in East St. Louis, Illinois.  Jeri, affectionately called, was employed at Olin Corporation as a quality control inspector until her health began failing in 1990.  Sister Everage confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a faithful member at Salem Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board. 

The former Ms. Geraldine Banks was untied in holy matrimony to the late Johnny Everage, Sr.; to this union seven children were born: Johnny Everage, Jr., Tracy Everage, Cynthia Everage, Blaine (Angel) Everage, Jacqueline Everage-Anderson, Daron (Angela) Everage-Anderson and the late Shirley Everage-Tolbert.  Mrs. Everage took 6 nieces under her tutelage and raised them as her own children: Margaret Davenport, Ruby Covington, Bernadine Covington, Kenetha Sparks, Stephanie Powell, and Sherrie Covington.

In addition to her husband, father, and daughter, she was preceded in death by: 2 grandchildren, Nijia Everage and Demetrius Lucas; and a great granddaughter, Zariah Harrison; 3 sisters, Thelma Covington, Maxine King, and Christine Cochran.

Left to cherish fond memories: six wonderful children, 2 sisters, Demple (Ted) Burnett and Eunice (James) Vaughn; a brother, William (Edith) Banks; 27 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; a special companion of 50 years, who stood by her side until the end, Clemon Anderson; a special cousin, Earlene Mc Adams; special friends, Shelby Crowder and Magnolia James; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will convene Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 9 until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Deliverance Temple Complex Church of God in Christ.  Pastor Clarence Squalls will officiate.  Interment will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.  Guest registry and condolences are available at: www.harrisonfuneralchapel.com.
