Geraldine Cleo Riney, age 91, passed away at 12:20 am, Thursday, November 29, 2013 at United Methodist Village in Godfrey.She was born December 10, 1921 in Roodhouse, IL, the daughter of George and Pansy (Hubbard) Fischbeck. She married Earl Vincent Riney on April 3, 1943. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1987. She attended Brown’s Business College graduating with an Associates Degree. She retired in 1992 having worked for Miller’s Mutual Life as a policy supervisor.Mrs. Riney also worked for State Farm Mutual Insurance Company, Shell Oil, and Sears and Roebuck department store. She was a member of the Alpha Iota business sorority and was a 55 year member of Order of Eastern Star Walton Chapter.She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Sue Areford, Godfrey, IL; two sons and two daughters-in-law, George Edward and Pam Riney of Chicago, IL. and Thomas Earl and Gwen Riney of Alton; four grandchildren and their spouses, Sarah Beth and Patrick Masterson, David Paul Riney, Samuel Joseph and Kate Riney, and Emily Rebecca and Steve Hejna; four great grandchildren, Casey Masterson, Patrick Joseph Riney, Eva Grace Riney, Benjamin Thomas Hejna; a brother and sister-in-law, George Dixon and Betty Fischbeck of Jacksonville, IL, along with many other relatives and friends.She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-lin-law, Howard “Pete” Areford; one brother and sister-in-law, Manford Hubbard and Alice Fischbeck.A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Evangelical United Church of Christ with Pastor Jerry MeCaskey officiating. Visitation will be held an hour before the service.Memorials may be made to the Evangelical United Church of Christ church or schools and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.A private family burial will be held at a later date.Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
