Gerald Sims

Gerald Ray Sims, 73, of Granite City, IL, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 26, 2025. Born on July 23, 1952, in Eldorado, Illinois. Gerald was a gentle soul whose kindness, humor, and steadfast loyalty touched all who knew him.

Gerald was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Billy Ray Sims and Dorothy Jean (Monday) Sims, both of Alton. Their warmth and values shaped the man he became-quietly strong, deeply thoughtful, and devoted to the people in his life.

He is survived by his siblings, Wendell J. Sims (Gail) and Janet S. Siria; his niece, Rhonda J. Soest (Edward); and his nephew, Kevin R. Scifres (Christina), all of whom held a special place in his heart. Gerald also leaves behind his dear friend, Donald Stumpe, whose companionship, and support enriched his years. In addition to close family, Gerald will be remembered fondly by many extended relatives, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.

Gerald’s gentle presence, quick wit, and generous spirit will be deeply missed. Though he lived quietly, his impact was lasting-felt not in grand gestures but in the constancy of his kindness, the sincerity of his friendship, and the love he carried for those around him.

As his family mourns his passing, they take comfort in knowing he left this world peacefully and is now reunited with those who went before him. His memory will be held dearly and carried forward with gratitude for the years they shared.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Monday, December 8, 2025, at Alton-Wood River Sportsmen's Club in Godfrey, IL.
