Gerald E. Peek

Gerald E. Peek, 73, passed away at 10 a.m. on Wednesday July 22, 2009 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.

He was born on September 21, 1935 in Roodhouse, IL the son of Eldon F. & Olive (Barrow) Peek.

He married Jo Ann Shake on June 28, 1958 in Alton. She survives.

He worked as the customer service manager in the motor division for Emerson Electric for 41 years and retired in 1998.

He was of the Baptist Faith and loved to golf and volunteered from 1998 until 2008 at Woodland Hills and Spencer T. Olin golf courses. He loved Illinois sports, basketball, football and loved Alton High School sports.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his one son and daughter-in-law, David L. & Debbie Peek of St. Louis; one son-in-law, Brian Ash of Columbia, MO, four grandchildren, Kayla and Aaron Peek, and Amanda & Alex Ash; one aunt and uncle, Herman & Betty Peek of Sun City, AZ; one sister, Twyla Janke of Austin, TX; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Philip & Sandra Peek of Loomis, CA and Leon & Sandra Peek of Ft. Myers, FL, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill & Marlene Shake of Alton and Harlan & Liz Shake of St. Charles, MO; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Jo Ash on August 29, 2008.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Sunday July 26, 2009 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey where funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday July 27, 2009 with Rev. Adrian Das officiating.

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in Godfrey.
